Prom Project

PROM PROJECT was a huge success!!!

My Sister’s Boutique would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the community and volunteers who generously supported and donated to the Prom Project this year. With your help, we were able to distribute over 350 dresses, 75 suits, and many accessories to local students. Your contributions have helped make this year’s prom and graduation events a special and memorable experience for many deserving students.

My Sister’s Boutique, a dress rental store located in the Quinte Mall, started collecting gently used formal wear in February to give to local students for free.  They received an outpour of donations including 750 dresses, 140 men’s suits, and numerous amounts of dress shirts, pants, shoes and accessories.  This past weekend they held the free giveaway days at the Quinte Mall, and it could not have been possible without many local businesses that contributed including The Children’s Foundation, the Quinte Mall, Main Event Tent Rentals, Parsons Dry Cleaners, Lafferty’s Crossings, Old Navy, and Shoppers’ Drug Mart.

“It was so incredible to see the smiles and get many hugs from some really grateful families and young people that are going to look stunning for their events”. Says co-owner of My Sister’s Boutique, Sarah Routhier-Clark “We are definitely planning on holding the event for many years to come.”

“The Children’s Foundation was honoured to be part of this event”, says Melanie Cressman, Executive Director.  “It fully aligns with the mandate of our programs; to provide equal opportunities for all children and youth.  The cost of formal wear is often a barrier to youth attending their graduation or prom, so we are thrilled that so many will be feeling confident and proud on their special day.  Thank you, My Sister’s Boutique, Quinte Mall and everyone that donated gowns and suits to the event.  Your time and generosity will play a big part in creating lasting memories for so many.”
